… so much so that they started a movement!

To address the concerns of downtown business groups leading up to the construction of the Hornby bike lane, a colleague and I started a Facebook group intended to promote large-scale, pedestrian-oriented events and gatherings downtown and along Hornby.

Here is a snippet from our mission statement:

We promote large-scale pedestrian commercial activity on Hornby Street. As Hornby becomes a vital hub for commerce and pedestrianism downtown, this street – with its brand new separated bike lane – will become a model for the rest of Vancouver, and the country, to follow.

They’ve just planned their next event for February 12th – a brunch at Bellagio Cafe – with the aim of getting as many people as possible downtown to enjoy the Olympic anniversary celebrations.
