Empty nesters / retirees and/or absentee owners who do not earn income in Canada could be the cause of the seemingly starnge statistic (i.e. when compared to property cost/value).

is it just in the print edition then? Gosh, I might actually have to pick up a real, paper magazine.

If the income is based on returns from recent years, the medians would reflect tax-loss selling and capital losses of equities during the recession. The snapshot figures aren’t valuable unless other years – say 2006/7 – are contrasted.

The figures may simply show that one ‘hood works hard, the other, smart.
