This seems to be a wider, squatter, perhaps less elegant but no less interesting version of their earlier design for 56 Leonard Street in New York. Their first highrise, it is currently “on hold” after beginning foundation work in 2008.

Well, it’s one more indication of how conservative architectural styles are in Vancouver for high rises, driven by current fashions. A trip to Calgary or Seattle will demonstrate that easily.
I agree with Rod. The towers that define Vancouver are boring. A lot of them are even down right ugly. Very few have any ‘character’ or staying power. Some variety and creativity would be much appreciated. Vancouver is very self-congratulatory on urban issues, but when it comes to taste and aestheticism, it ought not to be.
