Vancouver by Google

February 2, 2009

It’s arrived.  Google Earth has been massing buildings in 3-D perspective for some time now - and for some cities they have been portraying the buildings, no matter how insignificant, with their unique facades.    Almost but not quite photographic.

Now they’ve done it for Vancouver’s downtown:

West End too:

How do they do that?

With Google Transit, and now a nearly full 3D map of downtown, is Google trying to help us out for the olympics next year? Give the world some more info on our fine city? It has me asking what they’ll do next, though I do think it’s high time for some Google Street View shots..
