I wanna live on Tilly Street
January 24, 2009
Lots of great comments under “One Last Loop,” notably this one from John Wilson:
“Why does there need to be a Rolston Way at all? If there’s going to be West Rolston and East Rolston, I think that’s enough Rolston. It’s actually so much Rolston that it will be confusing.

“If we are honouring Tilly Rolston, why not name it Tilly Street?”
‘Tilly Street’ – what a great name! I’m guessing it’s not too late to get the City to think about it, especially if it hasn’t been approved by the Street Naming Committee.

On January 17, 2009, The Vancouver Sun had an article about this new area, and in the article, it said the names were “unofficial.”
I don’t know who at City Hall is in charge of the street names, but Trish French, the Assistant Director of City Planning, probably has something to do with it.
Her contact info:
Phone: (604) 873-7041
Fax: (604) 873-7045
Email: trish.french@vancouver.ca
Agreed, the names would be confusing.
I thought the streets were named after the late Peter Rolston, the ventriloquist who found local fame as host of BCTV’s “Pete’s Place” in the 1970s. I guess I watched too much TV.
Granville Loops: Rolston Way @ Granville is gonna be scary but hey . . . I like . . .
